Overcomers Outreach Ministries Inc.

Organization Description:

Overcomer's Outreach Ministries Inc. was founded in 1988 by Gordon and Sheila Thayer and is a non-denominational evangelical native-led ministry. Overcomers is located in the heart of the American Indian Community in South Minneapolis and has a nine-member board of directors that includes a Board of Elders. For 21 years the ministry has played a vital role in Community building in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis.

Throughout the year Overcomer's sponsors support groups, Life Recovery in Christ weekly meetings, provides affordable housing at "On Eagles Wings" apartments for Indian people in recovery and operates the First Nations Recovery Center, a licensed outpatient treatment program contracted by the Fond du Lac Ojibwe Tribe and Hennepin County. Overcomers also sponsors a Youth hockey program to Native youth and a week long summer Native Family Camp in Northern Minnesota. Since 1988 Overcomer's has provided short-term mission trips to the Mishkeegogamang First Nations Ojibwe Reserve in Northern Ontario and is planning the development of a new Ministry and Recovery Center on the Reserve.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious atoning death, resurrection, and through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.
4. We believe that for salvation of the lost and sinfulman, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
