Preble Street

Organization Description:

From a nutritious breakfast to crisis intervention, from clean clothes to healthcare, from showers to a permanent home, Preble Street programs provide a wide range of services for both youth and adults who are homeless and living in poverty, that meet not only immediate needs but also the long-term needs for housing, education, employment, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and legal assistance.

Every morning hundreds of people living at shelters, in the woods, in cars, under bridges find a warm welcome at Preble Street. And every year we:
• serve 125,000 meals to youth, adults, and families at our soup kitchens
• distribute 175,000 emergency grocery meals at our food pantry
• provide emergency overnight shelter to 500 youth and women
• provide shelter and casework services to 5,000 adults and families at the Adult Day Shelter and Teen Center
• provide permanent housing and support for formerly homeless adults and families
