Touched by the inhumane living conditions of the rural folk and slum dwellers in Hyderabad, MahabubNagar and Prakasam district, few youngsters, under the leadership of Mr. K. Ramaiah, started working for those communities. To sustain their voluntary efforts and formalize their activities, they founded Kalavari Educational Rural Women and Child Welfare Development Society in 1998. Initially , KERWCWDS started fulfilling the unmet health needs of the rural poor through 3 health camps in so many villages in vanaparthi mandal of Mahabubnagar District and Ardhaveedu Mandal of Prakasam Distrcit. In doing so it gained unbridled faith and trust of the rural folk, which inturn motivated and reinforced its commitment to work with rural communities. Having understood that poverty is an offshoot of ?Unjust economic system?, KERWCWDS seeks to ?reach the most needy by all possible means?,like community development, grassroots mobilization, livelihood systems and poverty alleviation, women empowerment, reproductive and child health, education, natural resources management etc.
