Resurrection 15068

Organization Description:

A board of directors was formed and their first official board meeting was held in August 2005. They were incorporated in January of 2006 and received 501c3 nonprofit status by the IRS in May of 2006. The board president is Pastor Bob Henry of Logan's Ferry Presbyterian Church, New Kensington. LFPC is also one of the 6 coalition churches. The others include the church of its 3 founding members: First Assembly of God, and Allegheny Valley Church of God, which are both located in Arnold as well as St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gospelite Outreach Ministry, and United Presbyterian Church which are located in New Kensington.

There are currently three programs under Resurrection 15068's administrative and structural umbrella.

The first is the ?Roosevelt Park Community Outreach Program?. During the summer months and coinciding with the Federal Free Lunch Program, volunteers from Resurrection 15068 went to the park 3 times a week to provide positive role models and build relationships with the children there. In addition to playing games, reading stories, crafts and music, there is also an educational component to the outreach. This summer, the group strived to build literacy with many reading activities and incentives. Overall, the hope was to instill the benefits and importance of education to these children, many who come form disadvantaged homes. We also had a few guest speakers from different vocations come to speak to the children to again provide positive role models.

Then there is the ?Community Resource Network?. This will eventually become a computer database that is being developed to match people?s needs with another person/organization/referral that can provide assistance?.whether it be
spiritual/relational/material, etc. The network will also be used to seek out volunteers for various opportunities in helping others or helping within the organization, serving on committees, etc.

Finally, ?My Father?s House? will purchase, renovate and resell homes at a fair price to improve the appearance of the 15068 area, and assist people(in the form of financial counseling and leading them to appropriate lenders)in purchasing homes who otherwise may not be able. A portion of the proceeds will be directed back to Resurrection 15068 to continue operation of My Father's House and other organizational programs and projects. Other plans for My Father?s House include helping elderly, disabled, etc. in the 15068 area by making repairs needed to be in compliance with local code ordinances. Future plans also include providing foreclosure counseling to help residents restructure loans who are in danger of foreclosure. The tagline for My Father?s House is: ?Rebuilding our Neighborhood?one family at a time.?
