Safe Harbor Boys Home
Safe Harbor Boys Home is located on the St. John's River in North East Florida. For 25 years Safe Harbor Boys Home has been committed to achieving positive and permanent change in the lives of hurting boys age 15-18. Based in traditional Christian values as well as those of discipline, accountability and integrity, Safe Harbors innovative program enables boys to overcome problems of the past and prepare for a successful future.
Boys who have suffered abuse, neglect, are fatherless, have an ineffective or negative role model in the home, or have lost one or more parent to death, divorce, desertion or incarceration are typical issues in the lives of the boys who come to Safe Harbor.
As a maritime themed program, the boys and staff live aboard former military and civilian vessels, learning maritime and vocational skills.
The boys attend educational classes leading to a High School Diploma at the on-campus school program. This high school curriculum is designed so that each student may progress at his own learning pace.
Vocational Training in a variety of disciplines is offered on and off campus. The goal of the educational and vocational programs is to prepare the boys for entrance into, and success in, the workplace. The principles used include teamwork, listening and speaking skills, ability to instruct others, ability to allocate one's time and money, reasoning, personal integrity, good moral character, and self-discipline.
