The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army has been established in Lynchburg for over 100 years. The office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; however, the Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing for Women and Children are open 365 days a year. The Community Feeding Program provides breakfast and dinner 365 days a year also, to anyone who comes.
We serve the City of Lynchburg and the surrounding counties of Amherst, Bedford and Campbell. The programs we manage include the Emergency Shelter, Community Feeding Program, Transitional Shelter for Women and Children, Noah's Ark Day Care, Christmas assistance, emergency social services, summer camp, disaster services.
The mission of The Salvation Army is to provide food, shelter, and a whole gamut of practical aid to needy men, women and children. While Salvationists believe that the ultimate answer for the people who come to them in crisis can be found through God's love, their practical ministry is given unreservedly regardless of a person's race, color, creed--or lack of it.
