Organizational Statement of Faith:

Acclaimed worldwide for its broad humanitarian service and outreach, The Salvation Army has an impressive history as a religious and charitable organization which dates back to 1865, when it was founded by William Booth to minister to the homeless in Victorian England. Booth's compassion for society's outcasts sparked a spiritual and social revolution. To this day, the organization still upholds the code and doctrine formalized by its founder.

The Salvation Army officially began its United States ministry on March 10, 1880, in Battery Park in New York City, when the first street meeting was held.
