Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington
SAMARITAN MINISTRY is a non-profit community organization with offices in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia, dedicated to helping the homeless or others in need help themselves to improve their lives. We provide many opportunities for volunteers to participate in this work. We are governed by a Board of Directors drawn from over 30 Episcopal churches in the D.C. metropolitan area called Partner Parishes. Samaritan Ministry operates independently from the churches and holds tax-exempt status.
The Next Step Program
The Next Step Program is a unique self-help program that promotes change, dignity and independence in people who are in need. Samaritan Ministry caseworkers provide support in the areas of social service and employment while program participants take Next Steps toward their goals. A Next Step is a manageable task that is set by each program participant and documented by Samaritan Ministry.
