Organization Description: 

The CASA volunteer will serve primarily as an independent investigator and will represent the best interests of the child or children. Essentially, the CASA volunteer will serve as the "eyes and ears of the court."

CASA was initially founded in 1977 in Seattle, Washington, and has developed into a nationwide organization with more than 1,000 offices across the United States. Smith County CASA began in 2009 as a branch of Wilson County CASA, which was established in 1987.
