To fulfill the vision, we've naturally adapted the following approaches:
"Be All That You Can Be!"
To live a meaningful and fulfilling life as God intended for us, we should all discover & develop our spiritual gifts and use them to serve God and others. Our leaders are naturally friendship & partnership-oriented. While we do have clear goals that we believe God wants us to accomplish, we do not use people simply as "helpers" in attaining the goals or fulfilling the visions. Rather, we assist Christian individuals to attain the spiritual potential God has for them. We believe leaders are not only called to lead, but also to develop other leaders. Our leaders discover, equip, support, motivate and mentor individuals, enabling them to be all that they can be in God's perfect plan for their lives. We also open full spectrum of opportunities for believers to serve in their gifted area, including all types of leadership positions and preaching. We believe the discovery, development and use of individual's spiritual gift is the best way to live out the "priesthood of all believers". And together as a body of Christ, we can then fulfill the vision that God has entrusted us.
International Church Planting
The Lord has laid a burden in our hearts for years about expanding our ministry (started since 1996) to an International Church for the international students/scholars, post-graduate and Americans alike. We have prayed about this for a long time and recently felt prompted to start implementing the vision. We believe the new integrated ministry approach (combining music, worship, Bible discovery, fellowship, outreach and food Smile) will enable us to provide Christian students with better discipleship and full-spectrum serving and training opportunities including preaching. Our vision is for them to be equipped and serve in a church-planting environment, and naturally engage in serving and reaching out to the truth seekers while they are still here. We hope their delightful and memorable fellowship experiences here will prepare them to start a Bible study group or a home church if God so leads when they go back to their own countries or move to other cities.
International Student Ministry: TalkTime English & Bible Club
There are over 25,000 international students in the San Francisco Bay area. UC Berkeley alone has over 5200 (and Stanford 4400) international students and scholars, and that number is not even counting the spouses yet. These are all the brightest students and will be the future leaders of the world. God has brought a tremendous mission opportunity right to our doorsteps. Just imaging, the impact that we could make to the world for Christ if we take this opportunity and share Christ's love with them.
SoaringHigh is a Great-Commission-minded church. Our vision is to bring the good news to the world through sharing of Christ's love with internationals and Americans alike in the San Francisco Bay Area.
"We believe in the divine inspiration and authority of the Scriptures. By this is meant a miraculous guidance of the Holy Spirit in their original writing, extending to all parts of the Scripture equally, applying even to the choice of the words, so that the result is the very Word of God; the only infallible rule of faith and practice. Moreover, it is our conviction that God has exercised such singular care and providence through the ages in preserving the written Word, that the Scriptures as we now have them are in every essential particular as originally given, and contain all things necessary to salvation.
"We believe in the one God revealed as existing in three equal Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the Holy Spirit as a Divine Person, a personality as distinct as the Father and the Son.
"We believe that as through one man sin entered the world and death through sin, so death passed unto all people, for that all have sinned.
"We believe in the death of Jesus Christ, as a true substitute, and that His death was a sufficient expiation for the guilt of all people. We believe in His bodily resurrection from the dead.
"We believe that those who receive Christ by faith have a new life from God given to them.
"We believe that people are justified by faith alone and are counted as righteous before God only by the merit of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ imputed to them.
"We believe in the everlasting conscious blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.
"We believe in the personal return of our Lord.
"We believe it to be the supreme responsibility of the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ to make His Gospel known to all people."
