Star of Hope Ministries, Inc.

Organization Description:

STAR OF HOPE MINISTRIES IS:

1. An intermediary organization that gathers from the wider Greater Paterson community and provides to over 60 SOHM member churches and non-profit organizations a wide range of resources which are needed to help serve and develop the lives of people in their community.

2. A capacity-building consulting organization that helps church pastors and direct service organization leaders improve the quality and impact of their plans, activities, and relationships so that the people they serve become more whole and holy as image bearers of God and citizens of the Greater Paterson area.

3. A networking organization that builds relationships among diverse groups of pastors and leaders for mutual support and the promotion of Christian unity and so that resources and energies can be combined to address pain and poverty.

STRATEGIC FOCUS AND RELATIONSHIPS:

The more than 60 local churches and grassroots organizations that make up SOHM Member Network are strategically located and positioned to lead their neighborhoods in the steps that are necessary to bring about community transformation. Churches and organizations that are part of the SOHM Member Network have agreed to work in partnership with Star of Hope as we together address pain and poverty. All Members of the Network complete a formal application process that includes presentation of the 501(c)(3) document which validates their status as a not for profit. In addition, Members must be in agreement with the Core Values, Mission and Vision of Star of Hope. Finally, a list of mutual expectations is agreed upon by Star of Hope and each member. This defines exactly how we will work together in the community for the Glory of God and the greater good of those in need. SOHM Member Network leaders that serve under-resourced communities are impacting their neighborhoods in profound ways. The additional support provided through Star of Hope is designed to build upon the tangible and intangible assets that already exist in local leaders and in local neighborhoods.

Star of Hope Ministries, Inc.

Statement of Faith

Star of Hope Ministries, Inc. is an evangelical urban ministry committed to:

• The proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
• The unity of the Body of Christ
• The fundamental doctrines of the Bible

The basis of beliefs of Star of Hope Ministries, Inc. is, without compromise of the aforementioned commitments, best expressed by:

A. The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth:

And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

B. The fundamental doctrines as declared below:

1. The Divine inspiration and consequent authority of the whole canonical Scriptures.
2. The Doctrine of the Trinity.
3. The Fall of Man, his consequent moral depravity, and his need of regeneration.
4. The atonement through the substitutionary death of Christ.
5. The Doctrine of Justification by Faith.
6. The resurrection of the body, both in the case of the just and of the unjust.
7. The eternal life of the saved and the eternal punishment of the lost.
