Sunnyslope Skate Club
Organization Description:
Sunnyslope Skate Club began in the summer of 2000. Over 6000 youth have visited the skate park since its inception. On Friday nights from 7 - 9 pm approximately 30-35 rails, boxes and ramps are pulled out of storage and set up as a skate park for the neighborhood youth in Sunnyslope. Approximately 75-125 children show up each Friday night to skate and hang out. A Deejay blares christian alternative, rock, rap and worship music. There is a 5 to 10 minute break to hear an inspirational or biblically based message tailored to the age and interests of the youth. Fun and excitement is fostered by giveaways, periodic skate competitions, celebratory meals, occasional live music and visits by various performers.
