Tamarindo Ministries

Organization Description:

Tamarindo Ministries owns and operates a Cafe in Tamarindo, Costa Rica that serves as a outreach to the community. We are involved in a church-plant in this area, and to more effectively make contact and build relationships with people in our community, we have opened a Coffeehouse. The Cafe is open Monday through Friday from 7am-4pm and Saturdays 7am-12pm.

In addition, we are in the process of developing programs that reach out to and serve the community. Among these programs are: Collecting and distributing school supplies to the poor, hosting language courses for Spanish and English speakers, hosting bible studies for locals and people traveling through, hosting book reading clubs, and having game nights at the Cafe.

Mission Statement:

The purpose of Tamarindo Ministries is to be a witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ to people living in and traveling through Tamarindo, Costa Rica.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

The Bible, Old and New Testament, is the inspired, perfect Word of God and our unchangeable source of truth, teaching us what to believe concerning God, Salvation, and Godly living.

2 Timothy 3:16, Joshua 1:8, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Matthew 5:18, Hebrews 4:12, 1 John 1:3,

Proverbs 30:5, Psalm 119:9-11

There is one God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All three are equal in essence, power and glory and are worthy of our worship and obedience. God is sovereign as creator and ruler over all creation, loving, righteous, just and perfect in all his actions.

Deuteronomy 6:4, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Isaiah 6:1-3, Genesis 1:1, Exodus 20:1-7, Psalm 90:2, 1 Peter 1:2, Jeremiah 10:10

Mankind was created in the image and likeness of God, however through Adam's sin mankind inherited a sinful nature and became separated from God. Mankind is totally depraved having no power to deal with the sinful condition or to bridge the gap of separation and alienation between mankind and God. The punishment for sin is eternal, spiritual and physical death.

Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:12 &15, 18-19, 1 Corinthians 15:22, Ephesians 2:1-3, Psalm 51:5, Isaiah 59:1-2

The Lord Jesus Christ, while being completely God, humbled himself and became man, being conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus was born without sin, lived without sin and became the perfect offering for our sin. Jesus, as our substitute, took our sin upon himself while on the cross, experienced the wrath of God in our place, and died the death we deserved, paying the penalty for sin once and for all. He was laid in a tomb but rose on the third day, demonstrating his power over sin and death. Jesus ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God interceding on our behalf.

Luke 1:26-35, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5, Hebrews 4:14-16, Isaiah 53, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, Titus 2:13, Romans 8:34, 1 John 2:1-2

The Holy Spirit , while being completely God, convinces people of their sin and calls them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit lives in the Christian from the moment of salvation and gives understanding and guidance for the Christian life.

John 16:8-13, 1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 1 Corinthians 3:16, Romans 8:9, Ephesians 5:18, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25

Salvation is the gift of God by grace alone. Salvation cannot be earned by good works but only through faith, by confessing and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ who made salvation possible through the payment of our sin.

Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:12, Ephesians 1:7, 1 Peter 1:18-19, Romans 6:23, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1-2, 1 John 5:11-12

Salvation begins when the believer trusts in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Because salvation is a gift of God based on grace and faith, not on works, we believe that the true believer is eternally secure in their salvation. This salvation is preserved by the grace and power of God. The believer upon death will reside with God for all eternity.

John 6:37-40, John 5:24, John 10:27-30, Romans 8:1, 38, 39, 1 Corinthians 1:4-8, 1 Peter 1:5, Galatians 5:13, Titus 2:11-15, Hebrews 7:25; 10:10-14

The church is the body and the bride of Christ made up of all Christians everywhere. On a local level Christians are called out of darkness to be together, with the purpose of glorifying God, living in authentic, loving community and impacting their culture with the Gospel.

Acts 2:42-47, 1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 2 Corinthians 11:2, Titus 1:5-11, 1 Peter 5:1-4 Acts 6:1-6, Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:11-16
