TAOST_ UGANDA

Organization Description:

TAOST is a Ugandan NGO that was started in 2003 after realizing that a large number of orphans had no one to take care of them. Moreover, many widows who had lost their husbands to HIV/AIDS were not able to support their families. TAOST therefore was founded in order to support families affected by HIV/AIDS so as to positively transform them in sustainable ways through capacity building and advocacy.

After careful consideration of the primary causes for the spread of HIV/AIDS - poverty, unhealthy cultural practices, and gender imbalance - TAOST has come up with an integrated approach to solving this grave problem.

TAOST therefore adds its contribution to the existing efforts to lessen the effects and blow of HIV/AIDS through various activities that include among others entrepreneurial skills development, education for the orphans, and home-based care for people living with HIV/AIDS.
