Teen Challenge Ministry Institute

Organization Description:

Teen Challenge is committed to enabling and equipping those we serve to find freedom from addictive behavior, to become socially and emotionally healthy, physically well, and spiritually alive and is one of the largest and most effective substance abuse treatment and prevention programs of its kind.

•Teen Challenge Ministry Institute (TCMI) is a dynamic one year Bible Training and Evangelism Institute and is certified through Global University, Berean School of the Bible, for ministerial credentials with the Assembly of God.

•Our focus is two fold: (1) to train students to become staff for Teen Challenge residential treatment centers across America and around the world. (Over 90% of the program staff in Teen Challenge centers throughout Southern California are graduates of TCMI); and (2) to train students to become ministers for the inner city.

•TCMI is prepared to teach an individual these skills: (1) to know God’s Word and sound doctrine; (2) to be a leader; (3) to raise and manage money for the ministry; (4) to communicate the Gospel through various means; (5) to counsel others; and (6) to develop interpersonal relationships.

The purpose of The After-School Learning and Children’s Prevention Programs is to prevent substance abuse and gang involvement among at-risk children and adolescents and attract and enable a new generation of young leaders to become world changers. The long-term goal for each child is the formation of a young person with life and leadership skills, educational and career aspirations, and an ability to learn independently. To achieve shorter-term goals, as soon as children become part of the After School Learning Program, they are set on a path for:
*Improved grades and passing or excelling in classes
*Strengthened analytical skills
*Life and work skills development
*Improved behavior and attitudes toward family, school and community
*Sense of self-esteem and an ability to plan for the future
*Drugs and alcohol abuse prevention
