True Stages Theatre Company

Organization Description:

True Stages Theatre Company is a Christian organization, founded by Shamirrah Hardin, that produces stage plays, hosts various events, and finds creative ways to introduce people to the love of Christ. Through our performing arts ministry, we aim to help people overcome emotional wounds and reach a place of healing and freedom through Jesus Christ. Rather than simply waiting on people to come to church, we believe in "bringing church to the people." For this reason, we actively bring messages about the love and power of Jesus Christ to theaters and to various venues in the community. This summer, we began bringing the message to the streets! We began spreading love and performing praise dances in the NYC subway station and at outdoor locations in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx. It was such a huge success and so many people were blessed, that we are now in the process of building a praise dance troupe that will continue the performance outreach project by ministering through praise dance in the Times Square subway station once a month while True Stages volunteers/members distribute free water and candy and offer prayer to those who want to receive prayer. By combining praise dance performances with prayer and the distribution of free gifts, we will be meeting the spiritual, emotional and practical needs of people.
