Organization Description: 

Jodie started working with waste in India in 2009 after visiting as a tourist and a volunteer and being horrified by India's garbage situation. She was born in England in 1976 but has no desire to return. Her can do attitude and genuine love for India and the environment makes it possible for her to work in the challenging field of waste management. Jodies first mass clean up in McLeod Ganj, the home of HH the Dalai Lama was attended by over 100 people and it proved to her she wasnt the only person who wanted a cleaner India.

Waste Warriors has one aim: to tackle India's garbage problem. Currently we have three Projects running in Dharamsala, Dehradun and Jim Corbett.

Our mission is to promote and provide affordable and sustainable waste management systems that improve our environment, health and quality of life through a combination of direct action, liaison, education and awareness-raising. We want to reduce the social stigma attached to waste and ensure waste workers are respected and paid fairly.
