Greetings from the WomenÂ’s Initiative for Prosperity (WIP) based in Kamuli Eastern Uganda E. Africa.

We welcome you to WomenÂ’s Initiative for Prosperity (WIP).

WIP is a Civil Organization Registered as a Non Governmental Organization by the National NGO Board under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uganda. WIP implements community based Projects at the Grassroots.

WIP was birthed out of commitment, love, hope and prayers by a team of three people two women and one men.
The Organization was started with the overall objective of Economic empowerment/Access to Market towards the widows, elderly mothers and youth, awareness of Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights, Health & Care, Prevention of HIV/AIDS and Later the Orphan & Vulnerable Children were brought on board. (See above explanations)

WIP was founded with a vision of “A society that recognizes the needs and rights of the women and children” and a mission of “to improve the social economic well being of women and children through economic empowerment, healthy care, human rights awareness and education support”.



AVAILABLE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES THAT VOLUNTEERS CAN WORK UPON ARE THE FOLLOWING;-

1. ACTIVITIES WITH WIDOWS, ELDERLY WOMEN AND YOUTH

1.1 Economic empowerment / Access to Market.
1.1.1 Support our target group (marginalized women) Access Small Scale Loans from Micro-credit service providers
1.1.2 Train our target group in management of small scale business
1.1.3 Provision of updated business information to our target groups.
1.1.4 Capacity Building of our target group (marginalized women) to seek alternative source of income other than begging.
1.1.5 To train on food security as a key factor for the economy to be stable

2. WIPÂ’s Activities with the Grandmothers

2.1 Support the Grandmothers develop Strong Food Security Systems in their Homes
2.4 Training the Grandmothers on the Care and treatment of HIV/AIDS infected people in their homes.
2.5 Provision of improved seeds to the Grand Mothers
2.6 Provision of mosquito nets to the Grandmothers
2.7 Train them on Hygiene & Sanitation (Clean water)
2.8 Access to information.
2.9 Economic Empowerment (training them in micro business skill, IGAs, as well as book and record keeping)

3. WIPÂ’s Activities with the Orphan & Vulnerable Children.

3.1 Payment of School fees to 62 Orphans in Buwanume parish.
3.2 Vocational Skills access
3.3 HIV/AIDS treatment Access to the sero positive children (OVCs).
3.4 Provision of scholastic materials
3.5 Provision of mosquito nets

4. Safe motherhood program

4.1 WIP intend to Education the residents of Buwanume village targeting expectant mothers, and their husbands, and this we intended to educate on nutrition and safety as well as gender sensitivity with the husbands.
4.2 Education and training of key members in the community, as birth attendants and community educators.
4.3 Distribution of mother kits among birth attendants that are used during village home Births.

5. Advocacy & Lobbying
4.1 Lobbying & Advocating for a revision on the National poverty eradication policies like (PEAP)
4.2 Research & Study
4.3 Development of a strong advocacy base.

4.4 Development of an Alliance of projects working on issues related to the economic empowering of the Marginalized Categories of people.

Upon this brief description of our program over view, WIP therefore seeks to bring all stakeholders on board to take on the crucial importance of links/partnerships in terms of learning, community, personal, and professional development, and in contributing to the millennium development goals and social coasion.
