Workforce Investment Act: Youth Programs (Government Grant)
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) authorizes funds to State and local communities to support workforce training and
related activities for youth 14-21 years-old who are low-income, deficient, school dropouts, homeless, parents, offenders,
or individuals with disabilities who require additional assistance to complete educational programs or hold employment.
Applicants must provide youth with tutoring, study skills training, dropout prevention strategies, alternative secondary
school services, summer employment opportunities, paid and unpaid work experiences, and occupational skill training.
Community and faith-based organizations can play an integral role in the delivery of training services under WIA.
