Providing technology training to indigenous church leaders in developing countries (focus on normal users). Some examples are: Providing training on audio/visual systems for services; Providing training in getting a ministry website.

PROVIDING IT SKILLS NEEDED FOR JOBS

 

Oasis International Net2Work Program teaches information technology skills needed for jobs on mission fields. Net2Work has 28 centers in 10 countries. Now over 1000 students are e-literate. They place 50% of their students in jobs. Students go from being unemployed slum dwellers to full time workers in 4 months 

INTERNET ENABLED INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN RADIO

Cybercafe also uses low-powered FM transmitter to provide community radio station. Cybercafe can utilize digital audio content from the Internet. It enables global distribution of Christian message via radio across different languages.

USING TECH TO RESOURCE DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: VOLUNTEERS

The TechMission Volunteer Network wants to provide the ability to effectively match very specific interests not possible before the Internet. It also seeks to provide the ability to volunteer remotely (social service equivalent of outsourcing)

City Vision College is an accredited online distance learning program for urban ministry leaders. Instituto InterGlobal is a Christian distance learning organization targeting Latin America.

The Model is to distribute computers from developed countries to developing countries. World Computer Exchange, a secular organization has shipped 21,450 computers in 34 developing countries. They ship out 200+ computers and monitors. They charge $67 for Pentium III's, $50 for Pentium II's, $35 for Macs.
